A rare case of a partner changes observed in monogamous swans British ornithologists. As explained in the BBC News website Julia Newth of the nature reserve in Slimebridge where winter swans, these birds come together in pairs for life.

"If you change the partner, it is usually due to death of (former partner) and not by choice" - says the expert. When the workers now have noticed that one of the swans came from the Russian Arctic with a new female, believed that his partner died so far. To their surprise, however, soon appeared - also with a new partner. This is just another case of "divorce" among the approximately 4 thousand swans observed in Slimebridge over 40 years. Rustic swans belong to the rare species of small swans. Each individual can be identified thanks to the unique drawing feathers. What could induce a winged pair of separation? Julia Newth think that the reason could be the lack of offspring .  They created a couple for several years, but never brought together young" - explains Newth.
